Michael Brecker (* 29. März 1949 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; † 13. Januar 2007 in New York City) war ein US-amerikanischer Tenorsaxofonist und zählte zu den einflussreichsten Jazzmusikern. Brecker spielte im Laufe seines Musikerlebens auf 900 Alben und gewann elf Grammy Awards. 2007 wurde ihm in der Kategorie Best Jazz Instrumental Solo für sein Solo auf dem Album Some Skunk Funk posthum der zwölfte Grammy verliehen.

Anlässlich Michael Brecker‘s 5.Todestages hat sich um den Kärntner Drummer Klemens Marktl eine beachtliche Tribute Band gebildet die auf ihrer Tour sich der Musik Michael Brecker‘s widmen - nehmen diese Kompositionen als Basis für ihr Projekt und verschmelzen sie mit Eigenkompositionen.

Lenart Krecic, a saxophonist, arranger and composer is a native of Slovenia. He completed Masters of Music degree at NYU and BFA with Academic Honors at The New School Jazz and Contemporary Music studies. He has studied with some of the finest musicians in the world: John Purcell, Billy Harper, Reggie Workman, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, and John Scofield to name a few. He has recorded and performed with: Billy Harper, Reggie Workman, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter, Kenny Werner, Gerry Hemingway, Don Friedman, Matthew Garrison, Kenny Davis, Jean-Michel Pilc, Marcus Gilmore, andJunior Mance. In 2010 he released his first album “Chain of Sounds”, which features bassist Kenny Davis and two special guests: Chris Potter and Marcus Gilmore. More about Lenart Krecic:

Marko Crncec
was born on May, 15th 1986 in Maribor, Slovenia. He started his music education with accordion on primary music school at the age of 7, then started to play piano at the age of 10. Then he studied classical piano on Music Gymnasium in Maribor. But despite of really love playing classical music he anyway decided to continue his study in jazz music on the University of Music and Dramatic Arts in Graz, on which he graduated in 2009. He had the opportunity to study with different artists, like Olaf Polziehn, Renato Chicco, Emil Spanyi, Ron McClure, Jarmo Savolainen,… He is now working as a multiinstrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer in a various musical settings, mostly in jazz and pop music. Meanwhile he performed or recorded with different musicians, such as: Michael Phillip Mossman, Luis Bonilla, Don Menza, Gary Chaffee, Marco Minnemann, Stjepko Gut, Bob Mintzer, Marcus Gilmore, Armando Gola, Jonathan Powell, John Thomas, Gwen Hughes, Stefan Milenkovich, Boško Petrovic, Miljenko Prohaska, Igor Bezget, Howard Curtis, Ron McClure, Martin Belic, Leo Angel, Andy Hunter, Samo Šalamon, Karmina Silec, Sharat Shrivastava, Gyan Syngh, Suresh Talwalkar, Bernhard Schimpelsberger, Ida Sundelius, Rok Golob, Jani Moder, Jure Pukl, Ratko Divjak, Sigi Feigl, Gašper Peršl, Karlheinz Miklin, Ewald Oberleitner, Eduard Holnthaner, Milan Nikolic, Mihail Parushev, Bajsa Arifovska, Ratko Dautavski, Stanko Arnold, Reiner Tempel, … ..

Jani Moder (born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) graduated from jazz guitar with honors at Kaerntner Landeskonservatorium in Klagenfurt, Austria. At audition in Paris he received a scholarship for prestigious Berklee College of Music where he received Stephen D. Holland Award for outstanding musicianship and graduated with honors in 2 years. He was also chosen among 10 students to sign a contract with Berklee’s Jazz revelation records where he is featured on the CD called Common Ground. He studied with Mick Goodrick, Joe Lovano, Hal Crook, Dave Samuels, Jeff Galindo, Darren Barrett, Tim Miller, Brett Willmott, Rick Peckham, David Gilmore, and others. Jani Moder has worked and recorded with many internationally established musicians in Europe and USA. He recorded over 40 CDs as a sideman and 2 CDs as a  leader (Momentum 2008, Sky High Low Down 2012). More about Jani Moder:

Klemens Marktl (born in Austria), a drummer, bandleader, composer, arranger, and teacher studied drums in Austria, The Hague, Amsterdam and New York with Carl Allen, Ralph Peterson, Greg Hutchinson, Ari Hoenig, John Riley, among others.
In 2003 he recorded his first CD-debut "THE CHALLENGE" (Jazz`n`Arts). He has toured and recorded with jazz greats such as George Garzone, Seamus Blake, Aaron Goldberg, Chris Cheek, Matt Penman, Johannes Weidenmueller, Barry Harris, Jesse van Ruller, Renato Chicco, Michael Erian, Primus Sitter, Erich Kleinschuster, Heinz von Hermann, Rick Margitza, Kenny Werner, Herwig Gradischnig, Andy Middleton, Martin Reiter, Vincent Herring, Toru Dodo, Rick Germanson, John Swana and many others.Since September 2004 he is living in Vienna and tours as a sideman and with his own projects all over Europe. In 2006 Klemens Marktl was nominated for the "Hans Koller Sideman of the Year Award". Since February 2011 Klemens Marktl is professor for Jazz-Drums at the conservatory Klagenfurt.
